Legit Kits offers a fun, approachable way for quilters of all skill levels to create stunning, award-winning quilts using Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). In their class, participants learn efficient techniques for organizing kits, cutting fabric, sewing, joining sections, and assembling blocks—without dealing with curves or Y seams. Using the exclusive Sewphia kit (or their own), students gain confidence and skills to complete a Legit masterpiece, proving that FPP can be easy and enjoyable.
*Becky Sanford has been quilting for almost 20 years and currently resides in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. She was first introduced to quilting by her grandmother, who made dozens of quilts over her lifetime and who patiently sat down with her and taught her hand-quilting. She has participated in numerous quilt-alongs, bees, and swaps, always looking for unique patterns, techniques and fabrics. When she came across a block that was Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP), she was truly amazed at the almost perfection that could be achieved with little skill, and she knew she could never have pieced it so accurately using traditional methods. From there she started buying and making whatever FPP patterns from various designers she could find. She found her passion!
Legit Kits came onto the quilting scene in 2020, and when Becky first saw Land of the Free, she knew she had to make it. A seasoned paper piecer, she had never quite seen anything like this. The block construction methods were revolutionary, and the results stunning! She eventually became a pattern tester and then a Legit Kits Certified Instructor. She has made dozens of Legit Kits and is inspired by every new, unique design and delights in sharing them with the quilting world. From her grandmother’s basement to today, she looks forward to carrying on this quilting legacy and meeting and interacting with other quilters along the way.
