Important notes for the Challenge this year.
Black kit must have NO white in the project
White kit must have NO black in the project.
This a Challenge and as such is to remain ANONYMOUS.
There are to be NO IDENTIFYING MARKS of ANY type visible on the project.
 
Please be aware the sequins are Plastic and may not react well to heat,
​ such as a hot iron.  You do not have a choice of the color in the packet.

2016-17 DQN Challenge
What’s Black or White, and Sparkles All Over?
Use the definition of sparkle below as inspiration for your piece.
Read these directions carefully there may be differences from other years!!!!!
 
The White Kit
1 fat quarter White Pimatex cotton (RKP 1)          
2 crayons – one blue, one green,
Silver sequins                                                     Rules
  1.  Your item MUST include quilting!
  2.  A part of the RECOGNIZABLE, UNALTERED white challenge fabric must be visible on the front of your project.
  3. You may add up to three (3) additional fabrics.  You may not add ANY black * to your design. 
  4. You must use at least a portion of each item in the kit. *Kit items may not be mixed.
  5. Only one project is allowed per packet.  There is a maximum of two packets per member. Additional packets are available for $4.00.
  6. Sparkle – a) to issue in or as if in little sparks, as fire or light; b).to emit little sparks, as burning matter; c).to shine or glisten with little gleams of light, as a brilliant gem; glitter; coruscate. d) to effervesce, as wine. e) to be brilliant, lively, or vivacious.
  7. The form at the bottom must be included with your entry.
  8. Additional challenge fabric is available from Hancock’s of Paducah using the order number in parenthesis above.  The current price is $7.98/yd.    Hancocks-Paducah.com     800-845-8723

  10. The chair reserves the right to re-categorize entries.
  11. If you enter a project you will get a free packet next year.

Categories
1. 100% Pieced - No appliqué of any kind including the border.
2. 100% Appliqué - No piecing of any kind within the center.
3. Mixed - Combination of pieced and appliqué regardless of the amount of either.
4. Group - Any entry worked on by more than two people regardless of any other category it will fit in.
5. Off the wall - any entry that does not normally hang on the wall or bed.  Examples: clothing, table runner, bags, dolls.
6. Miniature - Must be a true miniature of a bed quilt. (Maximum block size is three inches) We will have a ruler to keep it legal.
7.  Note there are no size limitations on anything but the miniature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
