What is the DQN Challenge and how does it work?
Each year, the Board solicits proposals from the membership for the Annual Challenge. The Challenge is based on a theme with specific rules; it often includes at least one piece of fabric that must be included in the final piece. Entries can fall into any of 6 categories:
100% pieced
100% applique
Mixed
Group (made by more than 1 person regardless of category)
Off the Wall - anything not a traditional bed or wall quilt, i.e., table runner, home dec, bag, doll, etc.
Minature - a true miniature of a bed quilt
The items are displayed at the July Quarterly Meeting where members vote on their favorite in each category. Ribbons are awarded to the First and Second Place winners (if there are less than 5 entries in a single category, there is only a First Place winner). And a gift certificate valid at several local and online quilt shops is awarded to the First Place winners.
It's a mini quilt show with amazing interpretations of a single theme! You owe it to yourself to get a packet and stretch your creative talents while having fun!
