2026 CHALLENGE PROPOSALS
GOT A FUN IDEA FOR A CHALLENGING PROJECT FOR OUR MEMBERS?
THE BOARD IS ACCEPTING PROPOSALS AT THE JULY 12, 2025, Board MEETING
10:15 am
Tuscany Conference Room
Henderson Hospital
1050 W. Galleria Dr., Henderson, NV
We ask that you be present to answer any questions the Board may have about your proposal.
WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?
Each year, the Board solicits proposals from the membership for the Annual Challenge. The Challenge is based on a theme with specific rules. It may include a piece of fabric or another object or embellishment that must be included in the final piece. An estimated budget must be included in the proposal to assist in determining the cost of the packet for each participant.
Participation is restricted to DQN current members (they must be a member at the time they both purchase and turn-in their submission).
The entries can fall into any of 8 categories:
100% pieced
100% applique
Mixed- combination of pieced, applique and/or embroidery
Circle Group - any entry submitted by a DQN Circle and designated as such
Group - any entry worked on by 2 or more DQN members done separate from a specific DQN Circle
Off the Wall - any entry that is not a traditional bed or wall quilt, i.e., clothing, table runner, home dec, bag, doll, etc.
Small- any small quilt between 12" to 24" or 20" square; includes miniatures.
First entry - first time entry in the Challenge by a current member
The items are displayed at the Summer General Membership Meeting where members vote on their favorite in each category. Ribbons are awarded to the First and Second Place winners (if there are less than 5 entries in a single category, there is only a First Place winner). And a gift certificate valid at several local and online quilt shops is awarded to the First Place winners.
It's a mini quilt show with amazing interpretations of a single theme.
