DESERT QUILTERS OF NEVADA
Quilt las vegas 2026 opportunity quilt
The 2026 opportunity quilt committee, consisting of Marlin Williams, Cat Nelson,
Lisa Cole, Gwenna Fierro, Zoe, and Bart McGough, created “American Pride”, a quilt ensemble that embraces a patriotic theme in honor of our country’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The three-piece ensemble consists of a tote, bench pillow, and quilt.
The ruffle-edged tote measures approximately 6” x 28” x 32” and features 1 ½” button closures, perfect for carrying the pillow and quilt.
The decorative pillow measuring 16” x 36”, adds a touch of sparkle to any room with its crystal accents and decorative embroidery. The zippered back reveals an inside zippered pocket that can be concealed behind the pillow insert.
The pièce de résistance is a 54x78 quilt of patriotic-themed embroidery patterns, consisting of over one million embroidery stitches. The impressive stitch count indicates highly detailed and intricate designs, requiring advanced techniques and considerable time to complete. Together, these pieces combine practicality with artistry, creating a cohesive set that is both visually appealing and functional for display and everyday use.
In John Trumbull's painting The Declaration of Independence, the key figures at the table are the Committee of Five presenting the document: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. They stand in the center of the painting before John Hancock, who is seated at the desk, with Jefferson holding the document.
Here are the figures at the table, from left to right:
