MYSTERY BLOCK OF THE MONTH 2021
WAITING FOR THE VACCINE
organized by Christine Dunn
NEW BLOCKS RELEASED FOR MAR. & APR. 2021
These are the next two months for our BOM program.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Each block should finish at 12" (12 1/2" unfinished), i.e., the standard size for most BOM programs.
Note: most Block of the month programs refer to one quilting method in a 12” finished block size; we are doing three per month, with choices in most if not all of these methods. And design challenges once in a while too. Some month’s alternate sites are listed. So while the 12” size might be found on The Quilters Cache, the Generations Quilt Pattern site might list it or a variation of it, in other sizes. Sorry miniature enthusiasts; nothing in this program is that small.
Note: We will provide you with the link to the blocks which you can then print. You can make whatever you like-mug rugs, table toppers or runners, sampler quilt or placemats. Taking you to a website for you to print out the pattern has to do with copyright nuances which are changing in the crafting/quilting world. We recommend reading the following:
https://www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/copyright.html
https://www.quilterscache.com/TermsPage.html
Of course, you are free to find and use your own pattern that fits the theme of the monthly block.

Examples below:
PW: The Red Cross Block available here: Quilterscache/Quilt Blocks Galore!
PP: kite_block.pdf From Nancy Morneault DQN Member of Loose Threads—Kite, see sample above. The formula for all paper pieced patches is Length + Width. Almost simple; but remember that Length= Length + seam allowances+ fudge factor, anywhere from ½” to 1”. Width is similar, Width (Height of patch) + seam allowance + fudge factor. The simpler version triangles on both ends is fun, cute and probably doable by all! You’ll need to make 4 of these blocks for a 12 ½” block.
