THE RIGHT WAY, THE WRONG WAY & MY WAY
with
Wendy Strumwasser
Wendy Strumwasser is a native New Yorker who grew up in Brooklyn and now a resident of Henderson, NV.
After realizing back in high school that there was a creative side that needed to be developed, she continued her education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC for a degree in Commercial Art. Though this degree was never used to its fullest potential, many different types of art were tried, but ended up by the wayside including painting, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, beading, hook rug and finally quilting and fiber arts. Seems like the latter of the art forms was the one that really stuck. She has studied with many of the industry's finest teachers over the past years, and continues to cherish the special bond that was formed with them.
Through the years, many ribbons have been won in local and regional quilt shows, but the one that remains the most prized was won at the National Quilting Association show in Tulsa, Oklahoma - 3rd place for her Cathedral Window Quilt. The American Quilters Society then published the same quilt in their AQS Desk Calendar for 2003.
Wendy served as president of the Long Island Quilters Society and has volunteered in local schools sharing with children the art of quilting. She continues to share her passion by teaching adult classes in quilting as well as doing her private and commission work.
