This class focuses on learning how to sew a show- quality ¼ inch binding.
|
This amazing technique works without relying on any pins, clips, gadgets or calculators! A kit will be provided. It will contain a pre-quilted and squared quilt sandwich to bind along with well starched, pre-cut binding strips. The main emphasis of the mini-workshop is to teach your guild members a wonderful technique that provides a show-quality 'standard' binding - however, there's nothing 'standard' about it! It is a no-math, perfect-every-time technique that every quilter should know, regardless of whether they compete or make quilts to share. In addition, I also teach how to properly square a quilt, the stitch to use to sew down the edge so that the stitches virtually disappear, and how to block. Once they have completed the small sew-out, I will walk through the various edge treatments shown in the advertisement and open the class up to Q&A. The 'fancy' edge treatments will make sense once they've learned the base technique. Note - we will not be sewing these out in class.
