REQUEST FOR CLASS PROPOSALS FOR 2020 RETREAT

OFFERING CLASsES AT 2020 RETREAT
We have the space at our new Retreat venue at The Aquarius Resort in Laughlin and are very pleased to announce that we will be offering classes this year! Classes and demos will be offered on Friday, Aug. 28th and Saturday, Aug. 29th. Our classrooms can hold 20-35 attendees.
This is your chance to share your knowledge and skills about a quilting or sewing-related project with your peers. Teachers are not required to attend the Retreat; you are welcome to attend at your expense. You will be compensated as follows if accepted to teach this year:
FULL DAY CLASS: (6 hours) Student fee: $35 Teacher compensation is: 15+ students $25 per student 8-14 students $20 per student Minimum Class Size: 8 students
HALF-DAY CLASS: (3 hours) Student fee: $25 Teacher compensation is: 10+ students $12 per student 6-9 students $10 per student Minimum Class Size: 6 students
DEMONSTRATIONS: 15 - 30 minutes no compensation for the teacher/presentor OK to sell kits to attendees
Proposal should be for one of the following time slots: Full day class – 6 hours 9am-noon 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Half day class – 3 hours 9am-noon 2pm-5pm
Demonstrations – 15 – 30 min. Time slots will be assigned; specify if you require a specific day, i.e., Fri. or Sat.
Proposal requirements:
-Specify if you are proposing a half-day or full day class. -If you wish to limit your class size, please specify the maximum number of students you will accept. -If you can only teach on a specific day or time slot, please state in your proposal. ---Provide a detailed description of the project (if accepted, you will need to provide a sample by June 15, 2020). -Provide a detailed supply list including fabric or materials requirements; If there is a kit fee that you will provide, you must include the cost to the student. If using a pattern and/or book, purchase by each attendee is required to ensure there is no copyright violation – teacher must provide details on how this pattern/book can be obtained and associated costs as these will be additional to the class registration fee. .Note if there are any special equipment requirements -Provide a description of required preparation before class. -Include what you expect the student can complete in the allotted time. -Include any relevant experience you have teaching this or other classes.
Teacher Responsibilities:
-Provide a sample of the project to be used to encourage student enrollment by June 10, 2020. -Sign a DQN contract. -Market your class to maximize attendance (Note: you will be paid on a sliding scale established to ensure the Guild collects enough funds to cover the room rental fees). -Distribute and collect evaluations. -Provide a summary of the event and evaluations to the Retreat Chair. Note: DQN has the right to cancel any class if there is not sufficient registration by the final Retreat registration date.
