DESERT QUILTERS OF NEVADA

cHALLENGE 2024
WHAT WILL IT Be?

Picture

THE BOARD WILL ACCEPT PROPOSALS FOR THE
2024 CHALLENGE AT THE
mAY 13 BOARD MEETING

The Board meeting will start at 10 am is at Gina Fiddes' home, 7021 Villada, NLV
What is the DQN Challenge and how does it work?

Each year, the Board solicits proposals from the membership for the Annual Challenge.  The Challenge is based on a theme with specific rules; it often includes at least one piece of fabric that must be included in the final piece.  Entries can fall into any of 6 categories:
  1. 100% pieced
  2.  100% applique
  3.  Mixed
  4.  Group (made by more than 1 person regardless of category)
  5.  Off the Wall - anything not a traditional bed or  wall quilt, e.g., table runner, home dec, bag, doll, etc.
  6.  Miniature or Small
    1. a true miniature of a bed quilt between 12" by 24"
    2. a small quilt no larger than 20" square
(Note: Change to category this year to allow a place for small quilts)

The items are displayed at the July Quarterly Meeting where members vote on their favorite in each category.  Ribbons are awarded to the First and Second Place winners (if there are less than 5 entries in a single category, there is only a First Place winner)  A gift certificate valid at several local and online quilt shops is awarded to the First Place winners.

It's a mini quilt show with amazing interpretations of a single theme!  Think about what creative challenge you can inspire the membership with.
